Biff Loman is a character whose childhood set him up for failure. Although his father spent all of his time and energy attempting to set him up for success, the bad morals he instilled in him caused a negative result. In high school Biff was a football star. Willy pushed him and made him spend most of his time practising the sport rather than focusing on academics. When Biff failed maths he was unable to attend university with his football scholarship.Throughout Biff's childhood there were several instances were he stole an object belonging to someone else. Instead of encouraging Biff to do the right thing, Willy congratulated him for taking initiative. This is just one exampleof the kind of poor morals that Biff is now accustomed to and as a result he finds it difficult to change his ways as an adult, despite showing the most personal development as a character.
